P90X2! MORE Muscle Confusion!!

Beachbody has developed a sequel to it's infamous P90X brand. The sequel named P90X2 is scheduled to be released in the November December timeframe. If you're a P90X, Insanity, or ChaLEAN Extreme grad P90X2 is for you! The truth is that no matter if you're a grad or not, anyone can expect to get stronger, more flexible, and more ripped from this program.
This workout is designed for maximum intensity and efficiency. In fact, the completely redesigned program still has a 90 day timetable but will be so intense and efficient that it will only require a 5 day a week commitment. Unlike P90X that was 6 days a week.
From this week’s webinar in with Tony Horton himself, I learned some of the specifics about the marketing, packaging, and pricing of P90X2.
Media:
P90X2 will be sold on DVD as well as Blu-Ray. Although the number of disks will be less, you will pay an additional $30 for the Blu-Ray format.
Price:
Base Kit  - Includes 12 Disc DVD workouts, 1 “How To” Disc, Nutrition Guide, Exercise Guide, and 90 Day Calendar.
Base Kit
Deluxe Kit  - Includes Base Kit plus – 2 Extra DVD workouts (V-Sculpt & X2 Chest, Shoulder,Tri) 1 Balance Ball, 2 Medicine balls, 1 Plyo/Yoga Mat.
Deluxe Kit
Ultimate Kit -  Includes everything from Deluxe kits plus – 2 Push up stands and premium grade foam roller (new piece of equipment).
For those of you who already have medicine balls and stability balls, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to pay an extra $120 for the deluxe kit just to get the 2 extra workouts. The latest news from Beachbody is that  2 extra X2 workouts will be sold separate. The V Sculpt and Chest / Shoulders / Tris will be available separately. If you already have the equipment, you won’t need to buy the deluxe kit to get those 2 workouts!
Nutrition Guide:
There is a completely new nutrition guide that not only takes the original concepts to new levels, but there are also alternative options to optimize the nutrition for vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free diets.  There are basically 27 diet guides in 1 now!
Food Guide
Equipment:

It’s been made quite clear that the P90X2 workouts and exercises can be done with very little equipment. This was done not to suggest that equipment isn’t needed, rather it was done for busy travelers that felt it too cumbersome to pack up a chinup bar or weights when going out of town. You can do the entire workout with just bands and furniture if needed, but you’ll also be able to really get the most out of the workouts with some additional items like the medicine balls, stability ball, foam roller, powerstands, dumbbells, and a pullup bar.
Here is the list of equipment that is recommended to complete the program.
  1. Resistance Bands (several different resistance amounts)
  2. Chin up bar
  3. Dumbbells
  4. Balance or Stability Ball
  5. Foam Roller
  6. Chin Up Bar Supporter
  7. Medicine Balls
  8. Power Stands
The DVDs:
  1. How To "Bring It" Again – The P90X2 How To Guide.
  2. Recovery and Mobility – Workout emphasizing not only stretching but also the importance of recovery.
  3. Chest, Back & Balance – Moves Taken from P90X 1 on 1 vol 3. Exercises include 3-ball plyo push ups, and 4-ball push ups.
  4. P.A.P. Upper – Post Activation Potentiation (Upper Body)
  5. P.A.P. Lower – Post Activation Potentiation (Lower Body)
  6. Plyocide – P90X was about vertical jumps. X2 is about vertical (up & down) and lateral (side to side) moves.
  7. Base & Back – A combination of plyo and pullups. In Tony's words the "Mother of all workouts."
  8. Balance & Power – A combination of balance components to strength components. An extremely unique combo.
  9. Yoga – A constant flow approach to yoga, eliminating the standing balance moves with a shortened warm-up.
  10. Ab Ripper – Fifer Scissors with a twist! Other moves from P90X 1-on-1, vol. 3, like the Abronome
  11. Total Body – Example moves like One-Armed Bicep Curl while in Warrior 3, Pull-Ups in a crunch position, and Plyo Push-Ups using a balance ball.
  12. Shoulders & Arms – Moves like Pike presses on 2 balls with feet elevated, using instability to improve strength.
  13. X2 Core – An intense blend of plyo moves and core exercises. The Next Level of Core Synergistics.
  14. V Sculpt – V-Sculpt is going to be a Back/Bicep killer. *Only available in the Deluxe & Ultimate kits

If you’re working out regularly, giving your body a constant supply of antioxidants can promote quicker recovery on a cellular level. And drinking green tea is a good way to vary your antioxidant intake. On top of its antioxidant properties, green tea can help protect the cardiovascular system and increase metabolic rate (which supports weight control), and may provide some anticancer and blood pressure–reducing benefits. Green tea has always been, and remains today, the most popular type of tea from China where most historians and botanists believe the tea plant originated throughout all of Asia. The plant of which leaves and buds we make the famous green tea is called Camellia sinensis (“sinensis” means “Chinese” in Latin), an evergreen shrub or a small tree that is usually trimmed to below 2 m when cultivated for its leaves. It grows at 4000 m altitude in Himalaya. The Camellia sinensis flowers are yellow-white, 3-4 cm in diameter and with 7-8 petals.
The Chinese have known about the medicinalgreen tea benefits since ancient times, using it to treat everything from headaches to depression. Recently green tea has been receiving much attention. As a result, we now have several green tea medical reports and studies by accredited institutions concluding that Green Tea contains many healthful and healing properties. Drinking green tea has been shown to provide the human body with various health enhancing components. FEEL THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF GREEN TEA Green tea, recognized worldwide for its therapeutic properties, contains powerful flavonoids called catechins. The chief catechin in green tea is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which is a powerful antioxidant with anti-inflammatory, cholesterol lowering, fat burning and other beneficial properties. Benefits of green tea and its effects were discovered 4,000 years ago and since then has been considered a wonder drink!

KEEP STUDENTS FULL

After a relaxing summer vacation, you may need a little help getting back into the swing of things. One way to make sure you have enough energy to make it through the day is by consuming tasty energy-boosting foods. Every meal is an opportunity to add a little something that will give you that extra oomph to fuel you through the day.
Girl eating breakfast
In general, you need foods with low glycemic indices that are high in complex carbohydrates, fiber and iron and low in excess fat to effectively power your day. An assortment of fruits, vegetables and whole grains fills the bill. Adding these foods is easier than you think -- and once you do, you’ll have no trouble making it through the day.

EAT A HIGH-POWERED BREAKFAST.

A high-powered day starts with a high-powered breakfast. You’ve probably heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and it’s true. Oatmeal, especially steel-cut oats, and whole-grain cereals are excellent choices. Add fresh fruit and almonds to give your breakfast and yourself an extra boost. Another premium breakfast option is a whole-grain bagel with an egg and a small glass of orange juice.

FEED YOUR BRAIN.

Lunchtime is no time to forget smart food choices. This is the halfway point in your day, which means you still have plenty to do. Three to five ounces of lean protein will keep your brain sharp and your hunger satisfied. Try grilled salmon, chicken, shrimp or tofu coupled with vegetables such as bell peppers, carrots and broccoli. If you need an extra dose of fuel, go for leafy greens such as spinach or kale. Limit carbohydrates and fat at lunch to avoid falling into a mid-afternoon slump.

DRINK WATER.

Don’t ruin your outstanding lunch selection by drinking a sugary beverage. Stick to water. As a matter of fact, make sure you drink plenty of water throughout the day. Dehydration drains you of your energy, making you feel tired.

SNACK SMART.

Another way to keep your high-powered day moving smoothly is by smart snacking. Fruits such as cantaloupe, kiwi,  oranges, nuts (such as almonds or soy nuts) and seeds -- particularly sunflower and pumpkin -- are rich sources of valuable nutrients and energy. Other fuel-filled snacks include fruit and cheese, peanut butter on whole-grain crackers, and yogurt and fruit. Snack on these when you feel your energy dipping, and you’ll bounce back in no time.
The busy back-to-school schedule is no reason to get run down. Incorporate these high-energy foods into your daily routine and you’ll be sure to make it through the day with energy to spare.

Putting Shakeology to the Test!! Can you afford not to have it?

You really can't. There is really no excuse to not add it to your daily meals.

Given the fact that many of the foods we eat today (particularly our chicken/fish/meat) are of such poor quality. It makes sense that Shakeology would make up for some of the nutrient deficient foods we consume as a society. But, the question remains: Can you afford it?

If I left it out of my meal plan, then somewhere in my mind I was saying, “No, there is little room for it in a tight budget.” However, somehow that just didn’t jive with me. Let’s do the math together and you decide.

The cost of Shakeology on autoship (you get free shipping) is $119.99. Plus tax, say around $126, for one month’s supply (1 serving a day for 30 days). Each shake comes out to about $4.20. The coach price for Shakeology on autoship is $89.99 or around $96 total. Each serving comes out to $3.20.

Too much you say? Not if you are using Shakeology as a meal replacement, which, by the way, will help you lose weight. Remember: Subjects in a 90-Day study lost an average of 10lbs when they replaced just one meal per day with Shakeology. This is a resultsproven product.  And results speak for themselves; but I just have to keep sharing!!

The cost of an average lunch at a restaurant or take-out: $8-$14. Plus, even Subway sandwiches which are reputably low-cal average 460 to 560 calories without all the added ingredients, condiments, and seasonings!! Shakeology has 140 calories, less than 1 gram of fat per serving, annnnnnd it is truly nutrient rich.

The cost of an average take out or restaurant dinner: $15 & up to be sure.

The cost of a home-cooked lunch or dinner: 6-8 ounces of chicken = $2.00 (and we are talking low-grade chicken), veggies= $1 (frozen veggies are really okay! hurray!) and 1 sweet potato = from $1.00. Total= about $4.00.

Conclusion: You are spending about $4.00 on a home-cooked meal, the same amount that you would spend on Shakeology.

So what is the big fuss about then? I think our resistance has to do more with our thinking than our actual ability to afford Shakeology, regardless of budget. Somehow, I’m guessing, many people see Shakeology as a luxury item. But is it really? I invite you to watch the following video.  http://bit.ly/prtQWq

We think nothing of spending $4 on mass-produced food that doesn’t truly nourish us, yet we protest that $4 for Shakeology is too expensive. There’s something awry with our thinking, don’t you think?

To your health and to thinking outside the box.  http://bit.ly/pczWVF

I'm here for you every step of the way!!  And that goes for every glass too!!
